Wilderness First Aid


The Wilderness First Aid course provides individuals with an introduction to wilderness medicine, as well as skills to treat the most common injuries and illnesses encountered in the outdoors. This program is appropriate for entry-level outdoor guides and for non-medical people who want a basic understanding of wilderness medicine.

Upon course completion, students will earn both the WFA and optional CPR/BLS plus AED certifications, which are valid for two years.  Certification through AdventureMed or ECSI.

Course length: 16 hours

Wilderness First Responder

The Wilderness First Responder course is designed to provide an individual with an in-depth knowledge of wilderness medicine, and the basic skills to treat the most common injuries and illnesses encountered in the outdoors. This program is appropriate for professional outdoor guides and non-medical people who want a deeper understanding of wilderness medicine.

Students will learn the latest wilderness medicine skills for patient assessment, treatment, and evacuation. Expert instructors employ a wide scope of teaching methods, balancing lectures with practical, hands-on skills and scenarios. Emphasis is placed on the materials learned and the critical decision-making skills surrounding effective backcountry medical management.

Upon course completion, students will earn the WFR certification, valid for two years (with a one-year grace period), and optional CPR/BLS plus AED certification, also valid for two years.  Certification through AdventureMed.

A shorter hybrid version (virtual coursework followed by in-person scenarios and skills check) is available for students desiring recertification.

Course length: 70-80 hours

Wilderness Life Support for Medical Professionals

Designed to apply pre-existing medical knowledge to the outdoors. This program is appropriate for any medical professional, including but not limited to: EMT, nurse, DO, MD, and more who are interested in using their medical training in an austere setting.

All medical professional courses are eligible for ACGME Cat. 1 CME credits and FAWM credit. Upon completion of our Wilderness Life Support for Medical Professionals course, students will also earn a WLS:MP certification, valid for four years.  Certification through AdventureMed.

Course length: 24 hours

First Aid, CPR / AED for Everyone


Be prepared for an emergency in your home, workplace or community!  Gain confidence in what to do before the professionals arrive. Courses are offered in basic first aid, CPR / AED, or a combination of both.  Hybrid courses (virtual coursework followed by in-person skills check) are available.

Upon course completion students will earn a certification good for two years.  Certification through the American Red Cross or ECSI.

Course length: 3-4 hours

Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider

Basic LIfe Support (BLS) is for healthcare personnel who need to quickly respond to emergencies in a variety of settings. This course includes adult and pediatric emergencies, including ventilations and multiple rescuer scenarios.  Hybrid courses (virtual coursework followed by in-person skills check) are available.

Upon course completion students will earn a certification good for two years.  Certification through the American Red Cross or ECSI.

Course length: 4 hours
